Historical Art
McCaughen & Burr has a long history of representing significant historical artists, from National Academy painters to artists trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Since its founding in 1840, the gallery has featured the finest nineteenth- and twentieth-century artists. This period of art reflects profound cultural and geographic shifts and provides important context for later developments in American and European art, from academic traditions to early modernism.
