Herbert Herget was a St. Louis-born artist and illustrator known for his paintings of the American West, Indigenous life, and ancient civilizations. He studied at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts at Washington University and later worked as a freelance illustrator, including commissions for National Geographic. Herget’s Western paintings are distinguished by strong linear forms, vivid color, and a deep interest in Indigenous American art and culture.
