August H. Becker (1836–1903) was a German-born American painter known for his depictions of Native American life, wildlife, and the American West. Born in Bonn, Germany, Becker immigrated to St. Louis with his family as a child and later studied at the Washington University School of Fine Arts. He became well known for his detailed genre scenes, portraits, and murals, as well as his paintings of buffalo and frontier subjects inspired by travels throughout the American West.
